What to delete in Windows 7/Vista

Posted on February 15, 2011 at 1:26 PM

Remember that you apply the settings at your own risk, I am not responsible for what you do,

One that most users do not know about, is the update folder, that can be found at :

DriveLetter:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

You would not think Windows would keep the update files after installing them, well I have news for you, it does ?

Sad but true, it keeps all the setup files after updating,

Template files and folders are put everywhere in windows, even in the Windows folder its self,

You can find Two folders that well always have template files in :

DriveLetter:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp

 and

DriveLetter:\Windows\temp

(Advanced user) If you have uninstalled a program, sometimes it does not delete its folders and files out of  :

DriveLetter:\Windows\Installer

DriveLetter:\ProgramData

DriveLetter:\Users\User\AppData

DriveLetter:\Program Files\Common Files

A tip, if you have tried to delete a get-gad, and its not going, then try deleting it out of :

DriveLetter:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets

BESs

BESs

DriveLetter:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets
